If you’ve been to a Duke City Sound performance lately, you’ve already contributed to the chorus by buying a ticket. However, ticket sales make up less than half of the DCS total income each year. Generous individuals, corporations and foundations in Albuquerque and around the state contribute the remaining income through donations to the Annual Fund and to the DCS special fund-raising events. Government sources make up less than 1% of our income.
The Annual Fund is the backbone of contributed income each year. Because the DCS is a nonprofit arts organization, it will always depend on the Annual Fund not only to survive, but to thrive. And since the DCS is a nonprofit organization, all contributions are tax deductable.
A donation to the Annual Fund supports performances, Youth Outreach programs such as New Mexico Youth Harmony Camp and Showfest, educational enrichment programs such as Young Men in Harmony and Harmony College, free concerts in Old Town and every other show you love.
This year’s Annual Fund goal is $50,000. It is a large sum, but we have raised that and more for the previous several years. All it takes is for you to help in any way you can. Every donation, no matter the amount, is needed and gratefully accepted. At least 500 donors are needed to make this year’s Annual Fund drive a success.
